BIO

Attorney L. Richard Dorsey, II, is a second generation lawyer; he prefers to be called “Rick”. He was born and raised in West Virginia, growing up on the west side of Charleston until he moved in with his grandmother who lived on Davis Creek. He attended George Washington High School, served in the Army National Guard. He attended Marshall University in 1989 until December 1993 graduating with a Bachelors degree in business administration. He then went to work with Columbia Natural Resources (CNR) from 1995 until 2002. During which he obtained a Masters Degree from Marshall University, got married, moved to Hurricane, West Virginia, and had his first child, a son. In 2002 he left CNR to attend Appalachian School of Law in Grundy Virginia, graduating in 2005. While in law school his wife gave birth to their second child, a daughter. He was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in 2006 and immediately went into private practice, opening his own law office in Putnam County, West Virginia.

In 2009 he was approached by the Law firm Samuel I. White, P.C., and took a job as their West Virginia Real Estate attorney, overseeing the REO and real estate departments. In 2012, he left Samuel I. White, PC and immediately reopened his private practice in which he currently practices as a general practitioner.

Some other information about Rick you might like to know: He does not dress as the “typical” attorney no suit and tie for him; he wears shorts and t-shirts (Big Dog T-Shirts to be exact). That does not mean he does not dress up if he has court appearance or a closing. However, he likes to be comfortable, believes people work better that way, and you are coming to see him for his knowledge not how he dresses.

The Dorsey family lives in Putnam County, they have seven quarter horses; six dogs (3 outdoor, 3 indoor), and 10 cats (5 indoor/outdoor).

Rick when possible likes to relax by playing historical war games. He plays numerous computer and console based games, with roleplaying, strategy (turn-based) and first person shooters are favorite. He reads fantasy and science fiction, along with end of world or zombie apocalypse type titles. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and horseback riding for relaxation then actually the hunt. His son though would hunt everyday if he were allowed.
